Welcome to my home page. I am Sunit Katkar, a software professional with over 12 years experience in different sectors of IT. I have been programming in various internet and related technologies with some good companies. I wish to share with you my the tidbits that I created as well as learnt while programming. I have attempted to write in a simple tutorial format.

I have benefitted by the many websites out there with wonderful resources, discussions and tutorials on many technologies and programming languages. Many times, the documentation does not have good quality of examples illustrating some simple yet crucial techniques or features of a particular language. So I decided to come up with my own site where I could share some of the insights I gained on this wonderful journey of programming. Hope you like what you see here.

Since the advent of CSS style sheets and XSL, there is a lot you can do with plain old HTML display. I have tried to use simple yet quite demonstrative CSS styles in this site. So it would be best if you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 and above. Currently IE is the only browser with support for a lot of CSS and XML standards. But you can still view the site in netscape if you like.

This site has been up and running since November 1997. Various sections have been added since then at different time intervals, as I progressed through different technologies at work and as part of my own efforts at skills upgradation. I have done away with page counters as the Front Page counter on my ISP's servers does not run well and slows down the page download.

Note: The PHP section is new here as I have been working on it actively for the past one year. I will put up some tutorials and notes soon. While learning PHP, I decided to program and develop a site, the concept for which was in my mind for sometime. This is a matrimonial site for Indians worldwide.
